Barclays Capital, the investment banking division of Barclays, has appointed Greg Mrva as head of internet investment banking within the company's global technology investment banking group.

Mr Mrva, based in California, will report to Laurence Goldberg, head of the global technology group.

Mr Mrva joins Barclays Capital from Yahoo, where he served for five years as vice president of strategy, mergers & acquisitions and corporate development. At Yahoo, Mr Mrva was responsible for guiding the company’s overall strategic investment and acquisition activities.

Prior to that, Mr Mrva was an investment professional in the technology group at Texas Pacific Group. Previously, he was senior vice president of business development at Mpath Interactive.

Mr Goldberg said: “Greg brings a vast knowledge of the sector and is the perfect choice to lead the internet banking team.
