Barclaycard, part of Barclays global and retail banking division, has introduced a new free SMS and email alerts service for its customers of mybarclaycard, an online account servicing system, to manage their spending when out and about.
According to the Barclaycard, the new service offers its customers the choice of up to six free alerts that include: account balance; notification of statements posted online; payments due; payments received; spending limit reached and balance limit.
Barclaycard said that one set of alerts will be available for every card account, allowing customers to have complete control and flexibility over how they manage their finances. Customers can opt in for these free alerts.
In addition, customers can also have the option to set their own spending limits, and to choose whether to receive full alerts via email, or SMS alerts containing a link to the online system and a description of the alert in question.
