Multichannel bank Bankinter and Vodafone Spain have signed a collaborative agreement to develop banking products and services through mobile devices, beginning with the recently launched BlackBerry 7100v and 7230 terminals.

Bankinter and Vodafone are working together to achieve total mobility of banking services and Bankinter has become one of Vodafone Spain’s strategic partners following the agreement.

The collaboration informs the launch of the Vodafone Broker service on the BlackBerry 7100v and 7230 terminals, which have the Bankinter broker application pre-installed. With this launch, Bankinter and Vodafone customers can now perform various banking operations in the Electronic Stock market and at more than 20 international stock markets in real time, and at no additional cost.

BlackBerry, which enables users to send and receive email while mobile, now offers a competitive means of access to online brokers, with flat rate conditions starting at E25 per month. The application offers a number of features, including real-time purchasing and selling, securities news and positions, a securities search and maintenance of stock market orders and alerts.

Bankinter, which uses SMS as one its main means of constant communication with its customers, is the first bank to provide complete mobile communications for its customers. It pioneered in Spain the use of alternative channels such as telephone and Internet terminals and is the market leader in the use of these remote banking systems.

Vodafone Spain and Bankinter have also conducted a successful pilot using the Datamatrix system, through which customers can obtain tickets to a show in their mobile which is received as a two-dimensional barcode that can be read by a scanner.
