Oman-based BankDhofar has introduced a new Visa electron chip card to offer a new secured way of payment for its customers.
BankDhofar said that the migration from Visa electron card to chip & PIN technology will provide enhanced security during daily transactions as it requires the use of PIN for payments in different merchant outlets.
BankDhofar retail banking assistant general manager Faisal Bin Hamad Al Wahaibi said that in cases of theft /misplacing cards, the balance amount of the customer could be stolen or misused if not protected by a pin code. The importance of the Visa electron chip cards lies here.
BankDhofar said that the Visa Electron Chip cards can be used locally, internationally and the service is expected to remove the apprehensions and fear of the customer, in case of lost of electronic card.
BankDhofar senior director of cards services center Ali Bin Taqi Al Lawati said that the Visa electron chip card has a confidential personal ‘Pin Code’ to be kept secret by the customers. The customer can enter it in every shopping transaction in the same way as he or she withdraws money from the ATM machines.
