San Francisco-based Bank of the West has introduced mobile banking platform allowing customers access to the bank’s services through mobile device.

Through mobile banking, online banking customers will have the ability to receive account alerts through text messages, perform transfers between accounts, view transaction history and check account balances.

Bank of the West mobile banking head Phillip Rogers said that the new mobile service was built to optimize the customer experience from best-in-class rendering that supports thousands of devices, to a full suite of applications that allows customers to manage their money quickly, easily and conveniently.

Bank of the West said that a dedicated application for the Apple iPhone is scheduled for the next month.

Recently, Bank of the West also launched a peer-to-peer payments service – POPMoney, allowing customers to use online banking to send money directly to individuals.
