Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking has opened an office in Paris, its first in Continental Europe. The new office, located on Avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt, will offer mid-market senior and mezzanine debt arranging capability.

The Bank of Ireland has been active in the French market since 1997, focused primarily on leveraged finance transactions. Furthermore, the bank’s success in the French sector has been growing in recent years, hence the move to establish a base in the country. Last year, the financial organization participated in 16 transactions representing total commitments of more than E350 million.

Speaking at the announcement of the office opening, Richie Boucher, chief executive of Bank of Ireland Corporate Banking, said: The bank’s experience in the French market has been very positive to date. We have participated in more than 50 transactions representing total commitments of more than E1.2 billion.

Our objective now is to focus on arranging and underwriting mid-market leveraged finance transactions in France using a dedicated private equity sponsor coverage team, he concluded.
