Financial services provider Bank of East Asia (China) has officially opened a branch in Shenyang, marked by a ceremony held at the Shenyang Marvelot Hotel that was attended by approximately 200 dignitaries from the government, business, and financial sectors.

At the event, Bank of East Asia’s (BEA) chairman and chief executive, Dr David Li, said: My colleagues and I are delighted to be here today to celebrate the opening of Shenyang Branch as part of the BEA (China) network. With the establishment of this branch, BEA (China) now has three outlets in Liaoning Province, and is in an excellent position to extend its coverage and services to customers throughout northeastern China.

The branch, which is strategically situated in a business district in the capital of Liaoning Province, Shenyang, is well equipped to cater to the banking and financial needs of individuals and businesses in the rapidly developing area. In recent years, Shenyang has experienced healthy growth as the result of the State Council-supported policy to revive China’s northeastern industrial centers.

The branch commenced business on February 26, 2007 under its parent bank, BEA. In April 2007, operation of the branch was transferred to BEA’s China-incorporated subsidiary, which assumed control of BEA’s network of branches and sub-branches in China.

The new establishment provides an array of services, including foreign currency and Renminbi banking services, remittance and international settlement, and agency services for general and life insurance products.
