Banco Halifax Hispania has launched a new 'switch and save' campaign, which will enable British customers with property in Spain to transfer their mortgage to Banco Halifax Hispania free of charge.

The bank has stated that it will cover the customer’s transfer costs, including associated legal fees, notary, valuation, arrangement and registration fees. In addition to this, the group will pay 0.5% towards any early repayment fee charged by the existing lender.

Banco Halifax Hispania provides a range of mortgage products with fixed or variable rates, a one-year tracker repayment or interest-only mortgages, which are available in euros at a maximum loan to value of 70% of the property, across different terms.

Banco Halifax Hispania also provides free telegraphic transfers between Halifax and Bank of Scotland current accounts to accounts with Banco Halifax Hispania.

To support British homeowners, the bank has an approved panel of qualified solicitors and surveyors in the popular Costa del Sol and Costa Blanca regions that can help with all aspects of the transfer, all of whom are English-speaking.

Ian Smith, head of European operations at Halifax, said: Our mortgage products are designed with British residents in mind. We certainly understand the type of mortgage products that British customers require, based on our vast experience in the UK and our knowledge of British attitudes and culture.
