In a bid to overhaul its IT operations and improve its customer service capabilities, Allied Irish Bank has selected I-flex Solutions as strategic partner in its key retail transformation project.

This partnership, which builds upon an existing relationship between the two companies, supports one of the most important transformational projects in Allied Irish Bank’s (AIB) history, the bank said. It also represents one of the largest retail core banking transformation engagements for I-flex in Europe.

AIB is using I-flex’ Flexcube Core Banking application to help implement a common IT operating model for retail banking operations throughout the group. This new, more streamlined and efficient method of handling customer data will enable AIB to deliver enhanced customer service.

It is also expected to provide a strong platform for business growth and development by enabling the bank to respond to market and business developments more quickly and effectively.

The purpose of this partnership is to further develop our operational effectiveness. This will deliver enhanced services to our customers and help us grow and develop our business, explained Maura McEvilly, head of enterprise core retail banking at AIB. I-flex’ expertise in understanding our requirements and their commitment to the management and delivery of large projects on time, together with our past experience with I-flex in our wholesale banking operations, means they are ideally suited to help us achieve this extremely important objective for the organization.

Flexcube Core Banking will be implemented across AIB’s retail banking operations in Ireland and the UK. AIB is already at the implementation stage of the Flexcube Universal Banking Solution rollout for its wholesale banking operations, and the retail transformation project is expected to be completed within the next three and a half years.
