Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank has launched its ADCB Flash MasterCard credit card with MasterCard PayPass, which is the first of its kind contactless credit card in the United Arab Emirates, Contactless News has reported.

The new credit card offering uses the latest technology in contactless payments and can be used at selected locations across the United Arab Emirates (UAE), providing customers with a faster and more convenient method of payment for low-valued goods, Contactless News revealed.

The MasterCard PayPass technology allows cardholders to ‘tap & go’ for purchases under AED100. Cards can be tapped against a PayPass reader at point of sale locations to complete transactions, without the requisite to obtain a signature or swiping the card, making it a faster payment method, the publication explained. In addition, the card is equipped with chip technology making it hard to counterfeit.

As cited in Contactless News, Arup Mukhopadhyay, head of retail banking at Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB), said: ADCB Flash MasterCard credit card with PayPass is one such innovative product in line with ADCB’s mission to be the most innovative bank using technology for improving our business and providing our customers with nothing short of the best solutions. ADCB will begin issuing the cards in a phased manner to our customer base.
