Kenya's Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) has rolled out the first US dollar-denominated Visa credit cards in Africa leveraging TSYS' PRIME card management technology.

The newly launched card has been designed to offer savings on foreign exchange fees to CBA’s customers travelling to the US.

CBA personal banking head Gladys Akinyi said, "When clients use their CBA cards internationally, it provides flexibility and convenience for any kind of purchasing."

The lender is also planning to launch a suit of four new USD credit cards including Classic and Gold versions for personal users and Silver and Gold for business users.

Being utilized by more than 130 clients in over 70 nations, TSYS’ PRIME is a multi-lingual, multi-currency, multi-institutional and multi-product, single platform service for issuers and acquirers.

Commercial Bank of Africa (CBA) was eastablished in 1962 in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, with operations in Nairobi and Mombasa in Kenya, and Kampala, Uganda.
