Aberdeen Asset Management has appointed Russell Chaplin as chief investment officer for Property. He will also join the company's management board for Property.

Chaplin will report to Andrew Smith, Aberdeen’s global head of Property.

Chaplin will work to develop Aberdeen’s property investment process and will manage the global investment strategy team for Property, with staff in nine countries.

Russell is joining Aberdeen from UBS Global Asset Management where he ran their global strategy team. He previously held positions at Henderson Global Investors and Property Market Analysis, the international property consultancy.

Smith said Russell will be key to developing the company’s market analysis capabilities and implementing successful investment strategies across the company’s growing direct and indirect fund management business.
